Nobody should start to undertake a large project. You should start with a small trivial project, and you should never expect it to get large. If you do, you'll just overdesign and generally think it is more important than it is at that stage. Or, worse, you might be scared away by the sheer size of the work you envision. So start small and think about the details. Don't think about some big picture and fancy design. If it doesn't solve some fairly immediate need, it's almost certainly overdesigned.

Down the coast to LA

Sea Lions
We took highway 1 from San Francisco to LA and came along such really boring places as Santa Cruz (nothing to see but a way too commercial pier) and Monterey (haven’t seen anyone under 65), but things got better on the 17-mile-drive, in Santa Barbara and in Santa Monica! Los Angeles isn’t photo-worthy at all, except for the Hollywood sign, which Jay caught on camera, and the theme parks but then again, who wants to carry a camera running around in a theme park! We didn’t… but here’s some more pix and here’s Jay’s post!
