"I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why ? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the internet commercially... They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material."
Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) explaining how the Internet works (2006).

Down the coast to LA

Monday 9 June 2008

Sea Lions
We took highway 1 from San Francisco to LA and came along such really boring places as Santa Cruz (nothing to see but a way too commercial pier) and Monterey (haven’t seen anyone under 65), but things got better on the 17-mile-drive, in Santa Barbara and in Santa Monica! Los Angeles isn’t photo-worthy at all, except for the Hollywood sign, which Jay caught on camera, and the theme parks but then again, who wants to carry a camera running around in a theme park! We didn’t… but here’s some more pix and here’s Jay’s post!

Bay Area

Monday 9 June 2008

San Francisco
We had a great time in the Bay Area, visiting San Francisco, Napa Valley, and some really laid-back Silicon Valley cities like San Carlos, Palo Alto, Mountain View. We even had the opportunity for a tour @ PARC and LinkedIn, thanx to Alex and Ivo. I met my old school buddy Jos, who lives in San Carlos. We went to Alcatraz and of course I had to leave Jay with the authorities.. but miraculously he escaped!
Here are some more pics and of course Jay’s post!
